Bluehouse
kicked off their 2003 campaign with an exciting win over a talented and
youthful Hutton XI. In a dramatic finish in the gathering gloom, Hutton
closed relentlessly on Bluehouse’s total until ultimately four runs were
needed off the last ball. Warwick Everest coolly stepped up….only two were
conceded leaving the visitors victorious by 1 run.
Earlier,
Bluehouse had batted well on a flat dry wicket reaching a creditable 199 –
6. After Richard Lynch (6) had departed in the 13th over, Simon
Cooper (53) and Bill Lovatt (72) built the major partnership of the innings.
Good knocks from Warwick Everest (17), Brian Fayers (17) and some lusty
hitting from Del freeman (9) took the score close to the magic 200. |
