Bluehouse failed to rise to the occasion in this important relegation battle
with fellow Division 2 strugglers Willow Herbs. Inserted, in what turned out
to be a substandard Wickford Memorial pitch, the home side struggled early
on against some good new ball bowling from Rayner (8-2-23-1) and Munroe
(6-1-19-1). A fight back of sorts was led by the ever resilient Warwick
Everest (45), with support coming from the injured Andy Lynch (40), but the
visitors always seemed on top as Bluehouse closed on 174-9.
In reply, Willow Herbs got off to a good start though Scott (50) and Wellman
(31) who put on 64 for the first wicket in 14 overs. The writing was on the
wall from then on as Bluehouse bungled a number of chances to hand a
comfortable win to the visiting side.
It just wasn’t good enough….as a side and as a club we are making far to
many excuses for simply playing badly. It’s time to stand up and be counted;
there are great opportunity’s in every team for individuals to make their
mark and do something to be proud of. Sometimes it might appear to be easier
to walk away, but I’m sure that you would feel much better about yourself if
you stuck at it and produced a performance that turned a game for Bluehouse. |
