"Put Canvey in on a fairly
damp but rapidly drying wicket. A varied display of bowling kept Canvey's
batsmen guessing and restricted them to 188 for 6 off their allotted 40
overs. The bowling was led by Terry Wildes with 4 for 53 supported by
debutant Si Carter with 2 for 31. In reply Bluehouse got off to their usual
electrifying start racing on to 8 for 1 off the opening 9 overs (Ed. I
believe these totals are accurate, however I had fallen asleep at this
point). Despite a valiant attempt by Dale Gutteridge who top scored with 37
runs, supported down the order by Jack Neville with 20 not out, Bluehouse
finished well short of the total at 134 for 8 off their 40 overs." |
