Bluehouse
once again won the toss and elected to bat. The pitch proved fairly lively
early on and our openers struggled to 33 off the first 15 overs before the
first wicket fell. The slow start continued with Bluehouse progressing to
just 46 off of 24 overs. To compound this problem we also lost 5 wickets in
quick succession and at the 30 over point the score stood at 88 for 6.
Spirited knocks of 30 and 37 from Martin Nevill and Andy Cooper respectively
pushed Bluehouse to, what was viewed at the time as, a competitive total of
161 for 9.
However,
batting conditions appeared much easier in the second half and, coupled with
a very poor bowling display from all of Bluehouse Bowlers, Boreham were able
to cruise to victory in the 27th over having lost just 1 wicket to Phil Cox,
with Boreham's opening batsman Barthorpe scoring an unbeaten 115.
Vast
improvements in all departments will be required if we are to compete with
Brookweald this coming weekend. |
