Brookweald won the toss
and elected to bat on very good batting track. A fine opening spell of
bowling by Richard Seeley coupled with two early wickets from Phil Cox and
Natish Patel, restricted Brookweald to 45 for 2. However, dropped catches
once again played their part and Brookweald managed to score 99 runs for the
next wicket, scoring at over 6 an over. Bluehouse fought back well taking
the next 6 wickets for 87 runs leaving Brookweald at 231 for 9 at the close.
Chief Wicket takers were Phil Cox with 3 for 58 and Matt Evans 3 for 77.
Bluehouse’s response got off to a poor start
when we lost our first wicket in the second over with just 4 on the board.
We lost our second wicket with the score at 26, however, thanks to a fine
knock 47 from Richard Seeley supported by Ali Flint with 25, Bluehouse
managed to get the score up to 89 before our third wicket fell.
Unfortunately, thanks to excellent Brookweald fielding, Bluehouse lost their
next 6 wickets for just 20 runs and with Andy Cooper unable to bat due to a
dislocated finger Bluehouse’s innings closed at 109 for 9. |
