Bluehouse won the toss
and elected to bat. Despite the ball keeping very low early on, the
Bluehouse openers (John Walsh & Jeremy Cook) got off to a great start,
scoring 75 runs before the first wicket fell in the 17th over
when Walsh was out for 24. Jeremy Cook was out three overs later with a top
score of 36 and Bluehouse continued to lose wickets at regular intervals.
Richard Hunt in his first game of the season, following illness, produced a
spirited knock of 29 which, with the aid of Mr Extras (41 runs) pushed
Bluehouse to a respectable total of 189 for 10.
In response Woodham Mortimer got off to a good start
with Bluehouse struggling to take wickets. However, Bluehouse finally got
the breakthrough when wicketkeeper John Cornwall took a catch off Natish
Patel. This proved to be the first of 5 dismissals for Cornwall as Bluehouse
dismissed Woodham Mortimer for 167 thanks to bowling figures of 5 for 51
from Matt Evans and 3 for 35 from Natish Patel. |
