Played at Wickford Memorial Park

Toss won by Bluehouse

Weather Conditions: Cold & Overcast

 Pitch: It had been cut

Match Result: Bluehouse won by 9 wickets!!

Captains Comments:
After looking at the pitch a few times and taking account of the weather to come Bluehouse won the toss and put Rayne into bat first after 18 overs and the score on 85-0 it was looking like Rayne would ease past the magic 200 mark but for an inspired bowling change from the captain to make a double change and bring Phil Cox and Jack Nevill into the attack taking  5 wickets in 4 overs between them including taking the wicket of hard hitting Rayne Captain Mark Bicknell (68) leaving the visitors on 116 for 5, J. Nevill (5-41) & P. Cox (3-17) Rayne were finally bowled out for 170 in 40 over.

In reply Bluehouse needed 171 in 50 overs, Dik Lynch and Phil Cox took to the crease knowing that a good start was vital and they once again repaid the captains faith in them with a fine opening stand of 76 well in keeping with the run chase. After last weeks fine batting display by Phil Cox he this week played the supporting role giving most of the strike to Dik Lynch who played very well despatching the bad balls and defending the good ending with a hard working and well deserved 82 not out.  Dale Gutteridge scored a valuable 40 not out supporting Dik Lynch and the Blues through to the finish.

On the day Bluehouse deserved this win showing good all round skills to beat Rayne but our thanks go out to the visitors for a good day and excellent company. Two other points worthy of a mention in this report, Congratulations to Phil Cox on taking his 100th wicket for the club also Nicky Poole on taking his 1st league wicket I am sure there will plenty more to come from both.

Well played all!!!
