24th May 2003

Toss won by Boreham

Weather Conditions: Overcast

 Pitch: Damp

Match Result: Draw

Captains Comments:
Bluehouse lost the toss and were put into bat on a damp wicket. After a slow start Dale Gutteridge upped the tempo by scoring a quick (26) but was dismissed by Borehams opening pace bowler P. Burgess (12-2-25-2). Steve Carter also scored some quick runs adding (24) to the total but Bluehouse continued to lose batsmen at regular intervals. Boreham bowled very well to restrict an in form Bluehouse team at one stage the scoreboard was showing 109-6 but the tail wagged with Del Freeman scoring (30*) and Simon Carter (10) in the final overs ending Bluehouse's batting on 156-9.

With only 156 runs on the board Bluehouse needed early wickets and after only 3 overs bowled Boreham were 2-3 thanks to some excellent seem bowling by Simon Carter (12-3-30-5). Bluehouse continued to apply the pressure with Carter and  Freeman finishing there opening spells with Boreham struggling on 36-3 after 18 overs. Bluehouse continued to bowl well picking up wickets at regular intervals through Dale Gutteridge (10-2-37-2) and Jason McGarry (9-2-36-2) but Borehams tail supported T. Money (50*) through to the 45th over with Boreham requiring just 4 to win up stepped Jason McGarry to bowl the final over only conceding 3 runs and taking a wicket with the final delivery of the game leaving the match in a tie.

Bluehouse had their chances to win this game but for 5 drop catches and some poor fielding at times, things will have to improve next week when Bluehouse visit league leaders Eastwood 2's.
