After losing yet another toss
Galleywood elected to bat on what looked a good wicket. A. J. Flint playing
with a knee injury opened the bowling for the 3's off just a couple of paces
showing how it should be done by uprooting Galleywood's opener K. Horton's
stump for just 12. Flint (10-4-17-2) and Si Carter (8-0-26-3) both bowled
excellently in their opening spells, leaving Galleywood struggling on 44-5 after 16 overs.
Young N. Poole was unlucky not to collect any wickets on the day but showed
some excellent pace and finished with very good economical figures of
(7-1-23-0). D. Freeman took 5-32
but credit must go to the whole team who fielded extremely well and kept hold of their
chances including 3 good catches with the pick being A. Khan in the covers.
The only real batsmen to get off the mark for Galleywood was captain, G. Taylor, who
top scored with 39.
With victory insight with the Blues needing just 106 off 56 overs Galleywood
must have believed it could still be their day reducing Bluehouse to 20-4
after only 9 overs. The Blues needed a cool head, S. Lynch determined not to
let this victory slip away showed good composure at the crease bringing some
much needed stability, young N. Poole promoted to number 6 in the batting
order scored his highest league score (19) and pushed the total over half
way before being dismissed LBW. A. J. Flint also promoted in the order (not
due to his batting pedigree but due to having to leave early) smashed the
Blues home with a boundary filled 31 not out again well supported by S.
Lynch who finished with a solid 16 not out.
After a few scary moments
the Blues ended with a well deserved win lets hope we can show the same
spirit away to Boreham 2's next week.
Our thanks go to Galleywood
for a good game and excellent company. |
