After winning the toss
Bluehouse decided to bat on the first hard wicket of the year. Eastwood
bowlers bowled very well only conceding 38 runs in 22 overs. Dale Gutteridge
scored a stubborn 24. Bluehouse never gave up but found it almost impossible
to up the poor run rate until Steve Rogers added 21 and Steve Carter a fast
32. But once he was dismissed the innings finally finished on 137 all out.
Credit must go to Eastwood they bowled very well backed up by some very
good catches. It was
always going to be hard defending 137 although Simon Carter dismissed
Eastwood opener P. Mitchell with the very first ball giving hope to the
Blues it was not to be, in come young J. Harrison only 16 years for Eastwood
scoring an excellent 72 Not Out well supported by I. Roake who finished with
a solid 45 Not Out.
Eastwood proved too strong
for the Blues on the day, inflicting our first loss of the season but with a
good spirit we march on to next weeks home game against Rettendon 2's. |
