Bluehouse, after losing the
toss, were asked to bat and with the new opening pairing of Dik Lynch and
Phil Cox at the crease they showed good determination. They got their side off
to a solid start achieving 50 in 14 overs. Phil Cox showed good early season
form by scoring (90) with Steve Carter adding a hard hitting (36).
With 192 on the board
Bluehouse applied early pressure to Springfield with little effect both
openers scored freely. Del Freeman made the early breakthrough removing both
opening batsmen only to make way for C. Lewis to blast 58 insuring that
Springfield kept well ahead. Will Homewood on debut for Bluehouse only 15 years old had
a dream start
by taking 5-23 ending any hopes for Springfield. They finished just 21 runs
short with 4 overs remaining. |
