Match Summary: Basildon & Pitsea II 245 for 3 from 45 Overs, Bluehouse IV 31 for 9 all out from 18.2 Overs

Man of the Match: J. Good, Basildon’s opening batsman who made it look easy

Captains Comments:
After 3 days laid up with tonsillitis I dragged myself from my sick bed and how I wished I’d stayed there. A certain mismatch where their opening batsman got themselves in and then plundered runs at will. I don’t remember J. Good even giving a chance where as their other batsmen survived dropped catches by the bucket load. A competent fielding display from Darren Murray and a couple of late wickets from Bob Hutton the only highlights of a miserable long innings. A nasty injury from a dropped catch by Lol Bullard resulted in hospital treatment requiring 4 stitches, I myself have a likely fractured little pinky. The game plan at batting was to keep them in the field as long as possible, we didn’t even last until drinks. Darren Murray the only one to reach double figures while after getting a duck Tony Gregory threw his bat further than he’d hit any ball. With our most likely run scorer in A&E we capitulated for a miserly 31 which is the lowest total I have ever encountered when batting. The lowest score I have encountered when bowling is 9 and the light at the end of the tunnel is they are next week’s opposition, although we will have to improve on today’s performance to even win that one.
