After
four straight defeats the fourths bounced back with a fabulous win in what
was a very close and enjoyable game, mainly due to the introduction of some
enthusiastic young players. Upminster won the toss and elected to bat, a
steady partnership of 52 was well crafted against some great bowling from T.
Gregory and B. Box. Tight bowling from the change bowlers including debutant
brothers Mark and Jack Etherington restricted the score to a modest 153 at
the interval. Bluehouse openers started well enough until 2 wickets in 2
balls brought Jack Etherington to join his brother Mark at the crease. These
two steadied the ship until 2 wickets in 2 balls yet again saw Bluehouse in
trouble, at 69 for 4, Bill Box and especially Tony Gregory went into
overdrive scoring 44 in the next six overs to put Bluehouse in the driving
seat. Lol Bullard who had not played on the winning side in any game this
year then found his form scoring an unbeaten 26 to steer Bluehouse home with
the help of the entertaining Box also unbeaten on 22. |
